All in the Family Sir Emperor

Ch'in Shih Hwang-ti, the Emperor who constructed the Great Wall of China, possessed an immediate family numbering in the thousands.

According to some ancient records, the Emperor had more than 13,000 wives—one for each of the days he reigned! Ts'in Shih housed his huge family in an imperial palace said to have contained more than 10,000 rooms.

And the Emperor ordered that his entire family be buried with his body after he died.

Apparently, the Emperor's wishes were not carried out, for after his death in 210 B.c., his eldest son had to go to the trouble of beheading 12 brothers, ten sisters, and all other relatives who might covet his crown.

The largest shark in the world, the Rhincodon typus, or whale shark, can grow to a length of 50 feet, and specimens 70 feet long have been reported. But there's no need to fear the jaws of this mammoth creature—the whale shark eats plankton.

In an average year in the United States, one teenage girl in every 50 gives birth to an illegitimate child. About half of the over 400,000 illegitimate children born in this country each year are born to girls age 15 to 19, including over 10,000 born to girls under 15 years old.

Women 40 years of age or older give birth to about 2,300 illegitimate children each year.

A titmouse is not a mouse, but a small bird. A ladybird is not a bird, but a beetle. A silverfish is not a fish, but an insect.

And a guinea pig is not a pig, but a rodent, and it doesn't come from Guinea, either.
